What surprised you most about your visit to Georgia?
I was surprised by the traditional Georgian food, especially the Dolma which use grape leaves wrapped with meat and rice inside. It is not only delicious, but can be find everywhere in Georgia, implying that grape leaves can be found everywhere, and also the long culture of viticulture and wine tradition here.
How did visiting Georgia help you better understand the wines?
The face-to-face communication with winemakers from different wineries, gave me a better understanding of Georgian winemakers' pursuit of different wine styles and their different winemaking philosophies. At the same time, via tasting different types of Georgian wines and exploring in local bars, can feel more local wine drinking trends. This is very important information that you can't get in a textbook.
